The town of Malabang is considered as oldest settlement in mainland Mindanao and oldest municipality in the Philippines, it was located at shore of Illana bay. Iranun tarsila stated, that Malabang is the center of all tribes in mainland Mindanao, it was called Uranen Kingdom where Sharief Aulia’s first landed, the first seat of government of the Uranen Kingdom was in Tbok, a barangay of Malabang, Lanao del sur along coastal area of the municipality
The Capital of Uranen kingdom was Tbok, later changed to Malabang when Sharief Aulias arrived in Mindanao on “Between” 1200-1300, some history narrated that Malabang derived from the M’ranao word BANG which is “Adjan” Muslims calling prayer, when Sharief Aulia’s delivered Adjan in the place with a loud voice, the people was shuck and ask, what that voice, datu of T’bok replied and said; Great Adjan “Mala a Bang” done five times a day in calling prayer, thus the people of the tbok named the place MALABANG, where the first "Bang"  Adjan in Mindanao was primary heard and delivered
On early part of 1464, Sharif Kabunsoan was arrived in Malabang and married Princess Angintabo daughter of Rajah in Malabang and got Macaalang the first Iranun Datu ruled Maguindanao Sultanate on 1543-1574. The town of Malabang is the main seat of Iranun tribe on the shore of Illana bay, a mixture of Iraanun (Iranun) and Iranaon (M’ranao) Philippines census distinguishes between Maranao and Iranun. All indication is there are one tribe in one language, the distinction, if any, lies in the fact that the people living near lake Lanao are called Maranao, while those living south of the lake near Malabang on the shore of Illana bay (Ilian) are called Iranon,
Clifford A. Sather of Peabody museum at Harvard University in a letter of April 26 1966.To Fred Eggan, director of Philippines studies program of university of Chicago, report that he found some 4000 Iranons living in sabah (north Borneo) who seemed to stem from a mixture of Iranaon (Maranao) and Maguindanao ( Iraanun). Sather interview with an Iranon’s school teacher in Sabah and Revealed “that the lake Lanao of region in Mindanao is regarded by his people as their original homeland” so if their origin is in the lake lanao area, they are Iranaon or Maranao,
The ruler of Malabang before the coming of Sharief Kabusoan was Makaapen Radia Simban of Malabang, “Simban” is a M”ranao term which means “Lord Master”, he is a great grand son of Sharief Aulia, People of Malabang was one of the oldest existing nations in the world, all tribes in Mainland Mindanao are connected to this Kingdom and any Irayan Buayan, Maguindanao Ilud, Iranon of Illian and Maranao of Ranao don’t have blood lineage to this place cannot hold any recognized Royal Title in Main land Mindanao,

Malabang is town where the National Hero the former chief justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines Jose Abad Santos was killed by the Japanese Imperial forces by the Firing Squad on May 2 1942. Malabang is a 4th class municipality in the province of Lanao del Sur Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 33,177 people in 4,883 households.

The Illana Sultanate comprises of Tagalook and Sibutu Bays [Moro Gulf of the modern time] of Iranun tribe currently comprises -- Sultanates of T'buk or Tebok, Malabang, Pikung, and Balabagan was established way back 1190 by Sri-Vishaya Empire's Rajah Urangguwan of Uranen Kingdom. The Iranun tribe is the oldest existing nation in the world and mother of all Muslim tribes in the Philippines. The Danao Languages of 13 Muslim tribes is an Iranun term and the 5 qualities of a good leader was introduced in the Uranen Kingdom. The huge Maguindanao Sultanate covering entire Mindanao island was established in 1205 by Sharif Muhammad Kabungsuan -- followed to 2nd marriage in an Iranun-Tausug Princess Angintabu in 1203 -- started crowning of Maguindanao Sultan in 1515 -- and finally recognized in 1520. The Sulu Sultanate covering the Sulu archipelago [Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Basilan, Zamboanga, and Palawan] was subsequently annexed the North Borneo now known Sabah District in Malaysia was established in 1450 at Jolo Municipality by Sayid Abu-Bakar. This Sultanate was previously abolished in 1936 due to the passage of 1935 Philippine Constitution; however, it was re-strengthened when the Kiram Clan backed in this kingdom. In 1750, During the height of Moro Wars [1578-1898] and due to sustained Spanish colonial aggression attacks in the huge Maguindanao Sultanate of the most famous -- great powerful -- first Muslim national hero 5th Sultan Muhammad Qudratullah Nasiruddin or Sultan Kudarat was splintered and subdivided into small sultanate kingdoms -- Maguindanao itself [Sultan Kudarat] and the first Sultan is Muhammad Makakwa [Kawasa Anwar ud-Din], Buayan [Buluan] and the first Sultan is Dalimbang sa Langeban [Malang sa Inged], Kabuntalan [Dulawan] and the first Sultan is Digra Alam [Sultan Talakoko], and Ganassi [Rudy Rodil, 1987] in Lanao Plateau in recognition to the ordinary Maranao lady and 3rd wife of Sharif Kabungsuwan named Midsawang -- Datu Arobero Decabolodan Alonto Santican reigned first Sultan. The Illana Sultanate is also recognized during this era. Today, these 6 Sultanate Kingdoms in MINSUPALA of Bangsamoro region and homeland – SULU [including Palawan Peninsula and Sabah District], MAGUINDANAO [including Sibugay Territory], BUAYAN [famous to RajahBuayan], KABUNTALAN, LANAO [pat a pangampong ko Ranao or Confederation of 4 lakes], and ILLANA [including T’Buk, Pikung, Malabang, and Balabagan] still exists [Radzak, MLP Book, 2011].

Sana ang mga Iranun ay magkaroon ng province and Called "URANEN PROVINCE" between Lanao Sur and Maguindanao Province.

URANEN Province should compose of the ff: Municipalities:
7.Sultan Mastura
8.Sultan Kudarat and other contiguous places like COTABATO CITY that wanted to be a part of URANEN Province.

sa ngtatanong kay indarapatra the story of indarapatra is merely a folklore and just a legend. and has no historical sense,,it is believed that indarapatra was the first ruler of mindanao but this claim is not historically valid when we talk about History..part lng xa ng episodes ng Darangen..as far as the historiography of lanao is concerned the first Political body or institution came to existence was the Pat a Pengampong Ko Ranao. but concomitant to the coming of Islam when it was successfully introduced by Kabungsuan in 1515 Sultanate System as new Political structure came to the knowledge of the people of Lanao thus peole of lanao transformed their own.

sharief kabungsuan was first landed in malabang around 1515 this is historically_- valid,In malabnag kabungsuan maried aristocratic princess named Angintabu the daughter of Mazawang and Gantar , Gantar was that time the Chieftain of Malabang and was Iranun. so the fact that Kabungsuan maried angintabu who was a daughter of an Iranun chief and the fact that Kabungsuan found the natives of malabang under the rule of iranun chief are indications that the iranuns were the natives of malabang. Iranuns were originally m'ranao "people from the lake" these group of people were came from Butig who forcely settled along Illana bay due to the eruption of Mt. Magaturing in Butig thus sometimes m'ranao people say "so da panabala sa butig na naba tidto a M'ranao" when thse group of peolpe stayed in the place they were called by the non-M'ranao people as Iranaon which means people from the lake, thenceforth they adopted thier identity as Iranun. It is said that among the four shariefs the introduction of Islam was chiefly credited to kabungsuan because of the fact that unlike his predecessors kabungsuan used both diplomacy and conquest during his campaign, he used force to convert the people in fact he had his own army thus he was feared by the natives. kabungsuan was also effective in propagating Islam through entering political and marrige allianceslike for instance after marrying angintabi he married Putri tunina who begotten by mamalu out of bamboo, out of their wedlock they begot three princesses who were all married then to Buwayan datus.
with Angintabu Kabungsuan begot macaalang , the first datu of maguindanao , macaalakng begot Bangkaya, bangkaya begot Dimasangkay adil and begot Kapitan laut Buisan >who was the Father of the first sultan of Magundanao named Sultan Mohammad Dipatuan Kudarat.

The First Adhan or "Bang" in Lanao del Sur: The Story of Sharif Kabungsuan and the Origin/Legend of Malabang (Municipality), Lanao del Sur.
(Adhan in Arabic or Bang in Maranao or Call to Prayer in English)
Sharif Muhammad Kabungsuan was/is credited as being mostly instrumental in the propagation of the new faith in Lanao del Sur. He landed first at Malabang (now in Lanao del Sur) and made the First Bang.
Malabang comes from the maranao word "Mala" which means big and "Bang" or Adhan in Arabic which is a call to prayer. An Arab missionary name Sharif Kabunsuan arrived at the Sultanate of Tubok around 14th century to Islamize the people in mainland Mindanao. Upon docking in the shore of Tubok which is known today as barangay Tambara, the Arab Missionary call for a prayer with his loud voice. The First Adhan or "Bang" in Lanao. The villagers heard it and called it a BIG ADHAN, or locally "Mala a Bang",referring to the birth of Islam in the Island. The Islam spread through the mainland Mindanao. It reaches the northern settlers in northern Mindanao. Being marked as the historical foundation of the religion of Islam in central and northern Mindanao, they name the town as Malabang

Assalamu Alaykum wrt.wbt.

Kindly find out "Magulaleng" in the Maguindanao Tarsila or Salsila. From where did you get "Malabang" as the Royal residence (place) of the Iranun Sultanate??? T'bok was just as Seaport connecting Maguindanao, Buayan and Magulaleng (now Balabagan and Kapatagan). Without denying that Malabang was so developed on that time.

The Sarimanok is a legendary bird of the Maranao people who originate from Mindanao, a major island in the Philippines. It comes from the words "sari" and "manok." "Sari" means cloth or garment, which is generally of assorted colors.  Manòk is a Philippine word for chicken.

It is the legendary bird that has become a ubiquitous symbol of Maranao art. It is depicted as a fowl with colorful wings and feathered tail, holding a fish on its beak or talons. The head is profusely decorated with scroll, leaf, and spiral motifs. It is said to be a symbol of good fortune

The Sarimanok is derived from a totem bird of the Maranao people, called Itotoro. According to the Maranao people, the Itotoro is a medium to the spirit world via its unseen twin spirit bird called Inikadowa.

The Sarimanok is also believed to have originated from an Islamic legend. According to the legend, Muhammad found a rooster in the first of the seven heavens. The bird was so large its crest touched the second heaven. Its crow roused every living creature except man. Judgement day would come once this celestial rooster ceased to crow

A Maranao legend also says of a Sultan's daughter being swept by a colorful rooster that became a handsome young man and they were never seen ever again. The Sultan then created replicas of the bird to remember his daughter by

Iranaon’s Pride

Iranaons/Maranao are well-known for the aspects of Culture and arts, they gained more prominence in the field of martial arts when the MSU Karate Club successfully garnered three gold Medals and one silver in the 1994 first Philippine National Games – the first time Iranaon/Maranao gained these elusive awards in sports, and up to the present time the club still gaining good records.

In the name of Sport and Martial Arts, Iranaons/Maranao exceed on it and became more and more prominences when the young prince of Marawi in the good name of Datu Revie Saber Sani (son of Sultan Duma S. Sani and grandson of late Mamitua Saber, Radiamuda sa Marawi) won Champion in the international karate competitions like the 2003 8th karate games of the Adriatic in Italy, 2003 8th Czech open karate championship in Czech Republic, 2005 Asian Karate championship in Hong-Kong, China and the 23rd South East Asian Games (SEAGAMES). Datu Revie S. Sani is the first Iranaon/Maranao became member of Republic of the Philippine Team (RP-TEAM) for International Competition in the field of Karatedo, and present President of FIMAA Jeddah Saudi Arabia. The Iranaons/Maranao. would someday proven champion in the prestigious of the Olympics as my father’s longstanding dream, Datu Revie said in his Interview.

Pamakot Ka Sa Masa Emanto

A Song of a Moro Artist

The King of Moro Song Datu Komeni Bansuan lunched his new album with the new song “Pamakot Ka”. It could really encourage and inspire each individual who would listen and internalize its deep meaning. Some of its line go this way “ My friend, pamakot ka, know yourself. Pamakot ka while you are young. Know what is happening in this world and think of what you can do. Pamakot ka while still you are healthy and strong. Face your future, don't ever think you cannot make for God has given you all. Isn’t he right in saying this so?

At this point of time, in this era of globalization wherein we can’t describe the kind of life we have. Life expansion decreases due to many illnesses and diseases. It becomes unpredictable when we can’t do anything but to face life as it is. Competitiveness among nations, tribes and even religion brings deep impact to our lives. Thousand of people lost their lives because of such conflict. Survival for poverty really a prime problem of human being. Million of people died because of have nothing to eat.

Now, is Komeni right of giving us a signal to move ahead and to strive hard inorder to survive from this vulnerable world? This is not advertising Komeni but it somehow gives us the lesson to be vigilant of our life.

Connect this message to our own distinctions and undertakings as individuals. As teachers for example, pamakotinka, value your responsibility of molding and teaching the young generation because perhaps time maybe too late for you to do it and you might regret after all. Do this while you are still in the position, while you are strong and while you have all the opportunities of doing it all.

The last line of Komeni’s song says “ Now is the time to reflect on. Ponder on and move fast”. This is just a mere song of an ordinary moro artist but let us not forget great move and action start from an ordinary and simple plan.
