 GUINDOLONGAN MAROGONG

Chapter I
It was in the afternoon of a fine day. The horizons were clear. His Majesty, Pasandalan ah Morog ah lnayonan oh Campong ah Rawaka ah Modayao ah Alongan Pangadapun ko Sapasague ko Ragat was sitting on a gorgeous couch beside the window of Tarogan oh Kalinan. He viewed the Empire as far as he could see. He saw the grandiose mansions, the courtyards, the plazas, the shorelines, the cascading rivers, the plateaus, the rolling hills, the luxuriant trees, the green vegetations, and the mountain ranges. Then he said, the Empire of Magalindai Bumbaran had no peer. A non4 laughed. She said the lnayonan oh Caopong of Magalindai Bumbaran was jesting. The nori added “Andaon ari tangkal i bada ah rimbangiyan ka diya riba luna an.” “Where could the peerless Empire be and would be submerged”. The King looked at the non on the “paniolong”. o structural projection in geometric curves at the side of the Palace. His Majesty ordered the nori to come to him.
The no loathed in front of the Powerful Monarch. His Majesty told the nori to mention the Empire which had the glory and grandeur of Magalindai Bumbaran. The Monarch added he would put the bird to death if she could not name the Empire. The non informed the King her readiness to the Royal order. The wise bird strutted and the King saw the image of the Glorious Empire of Guindolongan Marogong. Its beautiful mansions, its plazas, its shorelines, the terrains, the sceneries, its luxuriant trees, and mountain ranges were those of the Empire of Magalindai Bumbaran. The King, at lost, realized Magalindai Bumbaran had a peer. Then he asked the non to talk about Guindolongan Marogong. The bird narrated that Guindolongan Marogong basked in glory. It had tributary domains. Its lords and nobles were renowned warriors. Its people were prosperous. It was powerful. None provoked the Empire in war, Its lnayonan oh Campong was Bacolodan Gomogao. His beautiful daughter, the Regnant Princess, was Talamatominugub ah Dawa Dawa oh Orai ah Rominundan sah Mayag.
The astute King was convinced. He left the couch and retired to his bed. Then he asked the maidens to spread the “kolambo”5 over the bed. He lay on bed in complete silence. His predicament was guide strange.

The royal family were worried and eager to know what in the mind of the King was as he behaved in a strange way. So much worried they were, but none asked his Majesty why he was in such state.
The royal family hanged Magandia .ah’Orai and facing the east, they knocked the Agong, then they faced the west and did the same, and also to the north and to the south, doing the same many times. The tunes reverberated in the Empi-re and the powerful lords and nobles and the warriors wore their armors and hurriedly came. They inquired about the problem confronting His Majesty. Somialalao Solog said one must be chosen to talk to the King. Rangaig was the choice. Rangaig informed the King’ the lords and the nobles and warriors of the Empire were in the Palace and liked to know the problem confronting him.
The’ tapestries over the Royal bed were raised. The King rose and went to his royal couch. Later, he announced he had been believing Magalindai Bumbaran had no peer. But lately, he knew the Empire of Guindolorigan Marogong was as powerful as Magalindai Bumbaran Then he stressed he wanted the two Empires to be joined in marriage. Prince Bantugan must marry Princess Talamatominugub ah Dawa Dawa ah Oral ah Rominundan sa Mayag, the daughter of Bacolodan Gomogao, the lnayonan oh Campong of Guindolongan Marogong.
The problem was who would be sent to Guindolongan Marogong to negotiate the marriage. Silence pervaded the Palace. The lords and nobles and warriors weighed in their minds the proposition. At last, Daromimbang Daranda stood. The lord had temperamental tantrum. His bock had to be chiseled to provide his rage an outlet. He proudly made known to his peers his readiness to go. He mentioned, however, that if ever he would be provoked in Guindolongan Marogong, he would wield his kampilan and put people to death. One lord after another spoke. All desired to go. But they stressed they would not tolerate provocation.

The King rose and went to the royal couch beside the window. He thought none deserved the singular honor to go. While weighing in mind what he should do, he saw Prince Lomna on the courtyard. Lomna was with his playmates. He looked at the lad keenly and soon the King was impressed by the way the youngster was behaving. He thought Lomna Was destined to make great name for the Empire. He told Rangaig to inform the lad His Majesty liked to talk to him. Lomna came and greeted the King. The Grand Monarch told him he would send him to the Empire of Guidolongan Marogong to negotiate the marriage of Paramata Bantugan. Lomna replied he was highly honored and was eager to go. His Majesty smiled and said he was only jesting. He did not really mean to send a lad to perform a great task. The lad said, he would be, dig raced if he could not leave. The King said it was only a joke and would not allow him to go because he was vet young. Lomna said if he could not be sent. He would commit suicide. His Majesty regretted his jest. Finally, he allowed the lad. Lomna left and informed Princess lawanun the King wanted him to go to the glorious Empire of Guindolongan Marogong to negotiate the marriage of Paramata Bantugan. Princess Lowanun was astounded. Lomna was too young to undertake a colossal task. But she could not do anything as Lomna was insistent. Lomna readied himself for the perilous journey. Tears rolled down the cheeks of Paramata Lawanun. She knew there were lords who could be delegated to perform the spectacular mission.
The next day Prince Lomna wore the armor the King gave• him. He held his kampilan and shield. Despite his young age. he looked, at the courtyard, like a seasoned warrior. As he walked on the lane, he was playing the sagayan, a war dance. He shook his shield and the little bells, called “tongkaling”, dotting the shield emitted tunes of regrets. He was still young, but he was. even the prodigious mission to achieve. There were renowned lords in the Empire, but none was sent to perform the task.

Alone, on his long way, he went. Eventually, he saw Lakongan Malipantao. To the rock, he proceeded and sat down to relax. He looked at the horizons and could only discern the receding. thane of Magalindai Bumbaran. His childhood days, Princess Lawanun, and his kinsmen came to his mind. He thought of himself and why he was sent to the Empire of Guindolongan’ Marogong. There were many renowned lords of Magalindai Bumbaran to select from. He knew his task was spectacular. Finally, he resigned himself to fate. Then he resumed his way. On and on, he went. But the way was long. Arid he was alone, and lonely, too. He just proceeded, come what may. He had courage and determination, nevertheless.

lniradawàn Tonong saw Prince Lomna on the way: He decided to find out whether, or not Prince Lomna had courage, valor, and prowess in battle. Prince Lomna saw Iniradawan Tonong. The latter looked rowdy and daring. He was tough and rough. Thereafter, they met. iniradawan Tonong greeted Lomna and asked him his name, homeland, dnd purpose. Lomna returned’ he greetings. Instead of answering the inquiries, he asked the name, homeland, and mission of lniradawan ‘Tonong. The latter ‘‘as angry. He said the reply amused him. It did not take time. The two young warriors engaged themselves in a deadly combat. They dueled in one place and continued it in another place until they covered wide grounds. The fight was even. Each met his equal. Many hours past and they dueled and demonstrated skill and power of endurance. They fought had none seemed to lose. The outcome was fascinating. Inidarawan Tonong was nowhere to be seen. Lomna was so mad he struck

SARIMANOK

The Sarimanok is a legendary bird of the Maranao people who originate from Mindanao, a major island in the Philippines. It comes from the words "sari" and "manok." "Sari" means cloth or garment, which is generally of assorted colors.  Manòk is a Philippine word for chicken.

It is the legendary bird that has become a ubiquitous symbol of Maranao art. It is depicted as a fowl with colorful wings and feathered tail, holding a fish on its beak or talons. The head is profusely decorated with scroll, leaf, and spiral motifs. It is said to be a symbol of good fortune

The Sarimanok is derived from a totem bird of the Maranao people, called Itotoro. According to the Maranao people, the Itotoro is a medium to the spirit world via its unseen twin spirit bird called Inikadowa.

The Sarimanok is also believed to have originated from an Islamic legend. According to the legend, Muhammad found a rooster in the first of the seven heavens. The bird was so large its crest touched the second heaven. Its crow roused every living creature except man. Judgement day would come once this celestial rooster ceased to crow

A Maranao legend also says of a Sultan's daughter being swept by a colorful rooster that became a handsome young man and they were never seen ever again. The Sultan then created replicas of the bird to remember his daughter by

DATU REVIE S. SANI

Iranaon’s Pride

Iranaons/Maranao are well-known for the aspects of Culture and arts, they gained more prominence in the field of martial arts when the MSU Karate Club successfully garnered three gold Medals and one silver in the 1994 first Philippine National Games – the first time Iranaon/Maranao gained these elusive awards in sports, and up to the present time the club still gaining good records.

In the name of Sport and Martial Arts, Iranaons/Maranao exceed on it and became more and more prominences when the young prince of Marawi in the good name of Datu Revie Saber Sani (son of Sultan Duma S. Sani and grandson of late Mamitua Saber, Radiamuda sa Marawi) won Champion in the international karate competitions like the 2003 8th karate games of the Adriatic in Italy, 2003 8th Czech open karate championship in Czech Republic, 2005 Asian Karate championship in Hong-Kong, China and the 23rd South East Asian Games (SEAGAMES). Datu Revie S. Sani is the first Iranaon/Maranao became member of Republic of the Philippine Team (RP-TEAM) for International Competition in the field of Karatedo, and present President of FIMAA Jeddah Saudi Arabia. The Iranaons/Maranao. would someday proven champion in the prestigious of the Olympics as my father’s longstanding dream, Datu Revie said in his Interview.

Pamakot Ka Sa Masa Emanto

A Song of a Moro Artist

The King of Moro Song Datu Komeni Bansuan lunched his new album with the new song “Pamakot Ka”. It could really encourage and inspire each individual who would listen and internalize its deep meaning. Some of its line go this way “ My friend, pamakot ka, know yourself. Pamakot ka while you are young. Know what is happening in this world and think of what you can do. Pamakot ka while still you are healthy and strong. Face your future, don't ever think you cannot make for God has given you all. Isn’t he right in saying this so?

At this point of time, in this era of globalization wherein we can’t describe the kind of life we have. Life expansion decreases due to many illnesses and diseases. It becomes unpredictable when we can’t do anything but to face life as it is. Competitiveness among nations, tribes and even religion brings deep impact to our lives. Thousand of people lost their lives because of such conflict. Survival for poverty really a prime problem of human being. Million of people died because of have nothing to eat.

Now, is Komeni right of giving us a signal to move ahead and to strive hard inorder to survive from this vulnerable world? This is not advertising Komeni but it somehow gives us the lesson to be vigilant of our life.

Connect this message to our own distinctions and undertakings as individuals. As teachers for example, pamakotinka, value your responsibility of molding and teaching the young generation because perhaps time maybe too late for you to do it and you might regret after all. Do this while you are still in the position, while you are strong and while you have all the opportunities of doing it all.

The last line of Komeni’s song says “ Now is the time to reflect on. Ponder on and move fast”. This is just a mere song of an ordinary moro artist but let us not forget great move and action start from an ordinary and simple plan.
